Centennial Lilac Garden Niagara Falls

There was a time when if you were driving along the Niagara Parkway from Niagara Falls towards Queenston, you would have driven right by the Centennial Lilac Garden in Niagara Falls, and may have missed it.

Thanks to a new road sign by Niagara Parks you will be tempted to pull into the driveway especially during lilac season when the fragrance and the beauty of the lilac blooms draw you in.

You just can’t miss it now.  You’ll find this gorgeous Niagara lilac garden in the area near the Niagara Floral Clock on the left-hand side of the road if you are leaving the falls area and heading towards the Queenston bridge.

Parking is free at the time of this writing (Summer 2021 and still is Summer 2022) and there is no entrance fee. So an absolutely free attraction to enjoy in Niagara, thanks to the generosity of a local resident.

This is a very natural garden with 535 trees in every colour. Take a leisurely walk in this beautiful lilac garden to enjoy lilac blooms and a few other flowering trees. It is a great place to relax, enjoy some time in nature and wander among the blooms, with your camera in hand of course.

There are a couple of benches to sit on if you choose, but if you’re anything like me you’ll spend most of your time wandering around, taking in the delicious fragrance of lilacs and enjoying this short-lived pleasure that nature has gifted us.

Though I did sit on a bench, across from the big old apple tree, dedicated to the love of Rory and Cathy. I don’t know their story, but I wish I did.

Lilacs bloom for about two weeks each spring and if you time it right, you will catch the Centennial Lilac Garden in full bloom sometime in May.  It all depends on the weather and the type of spring we have here in Niagara.

This year 2021, the lilacs were in full bloom mid May.

Updated 2022, lilacs are still in full bloom May 23rd.

Here’s a video for you from this year’s (2022) wander in Centennial Lilac Garden. Enjoy the story and meaning of lilacs while walking among the blooms with me.

Notice how every four leafed petal goes together to create a gorgeous bloom. Enhancing the notion that individually we are beautiful, but together we are even better.

Enjoy this little video I created from 2021 and let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. Have you ever been to a lilac garden and seen thousands of lilacs in bloom at the same time?
