A God Moment

What’s happening in your life? Are you finding the magic? Any synchronicities? This morning Vicki wrote a post about her God moment, entitled Jackson and Grace. And just a few days before, Wynne wrote about her God moment, Connecting the Dots. Both posts, linked below, point to the magic that exists in our lives.

This morning I had my own God moment. I’ve been dwelling on a problem. The problem itself is irrelevant, we all have them. Though within these problems we always have choice. And here is where we find the struggle. In that space between this and that, yours and mine, taking and giving, light and dark, is a place for equilibrium. Finding that precise balance is the struggle.

I woke early and tried to go back to sleep, but we all know that’s not as easy as it sounds when you’re a particular age. So after lounging until there was light in the sky, I decided to get up. I dismissed the normal idea of heading to the bathroom first, thinking I’d like to see the golden glow of the just risen sun. As I turned the other way to look out of the windows, there my blurry eyes widened to see a beautiful bright rainbow.

Rainbows symbolize new beginnings and acceptance. We know that, but a different thought came to mind as I watched the glistening white wings of seagulls flying in front of this colourful spectrum of light.

Rainbows are about perspective. They aren’t fixed. These light refracting arcs are optical illusions that look different based on your location and elevation. Where the arc ends and begins will look different to you than it does to me. Perspective.

If is for this reason the pot of gold remains elusive, and sometimes from a plane you can see the full circle of colour. Rainbows are actually circles not arcs. Again, it’s perspective, right?

It is the same with our problems. They appear differently when considered from another’s perspective. This can be very difficult to do when we are entrenched in our own beliefs and tied to our own outcomes, but an alternate perspective is so necessary to come to a collaborative resolution.

And as I stood, looking out at the rainbow that I would have missed if I hadn’t taken the time, I experienced a God moment, and these words came:

She floated in this morning
a rainbow was her gift
she handed it to me
with a message to uplift

Her golden curls like sunlight
as seagulls drifted by
their gleaming white wings glittered
like the sparkle in her eye

She whispered something to me
and I must share with you
our world may seem broken
but upon a closer view

You'll notice something special
happening on this day
take a look at all the details
you'll find along the way

Little people who stand in awe
of birds that sing in trees
flowers pushing through the ground
and the softening warmer breeze

You will notice magic
if you open up your heart
Wynne and Vicki call it a God moment
I call it God's art

And today is the first day of Spring, the vernal equinox, and international happiness day. Wow! That’s a lot of magic and wonder to celebrate.

And what about you? Have you experienced a God moment, synchronicity, magic lately? And are they becoming more common, or is it just me?

Here are Vicki and Wynne’s posts on their God moments.
