On the shores of Lake Ontario in Beamsville sits 30 acres of lush vineyards. This is Legends Estate Winery. The vineyard is a stunning backdrop for a wedding with its lovely white gazebo overlooking the lake. Or imagine a picnic on the grounds with a Legends Estate wine in hand.
The wine shop offers Legends‘ small batch wines sourced from their own vineyards. Sitting outside on the wineshop patio enjoying a tasting is a peaceful, unhurried experience and you can roam the grounds and walk over to the edge of the lake for some beautiful views of Toronto in the distance.
The tasting room offers a unique boutique experience, and the staff are warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the products. There is a wide choice of wines to choose from, and Legends’ lakeside location provides a perfect micro climate within which to grow difficult varietals rare to the Niagara region, such as Semillon and Petite Verdot.
The History:
John Lizak made the original fruit plantings in the 1940’s. Growing from tender fruit farms to vineyards, Legends was born in 1999. This is a family enterprise handed down from father to son over the years, with a long history of fruit farming and wine production in the Niagara area.
Legends strives for 100% single varietals made from grapes grown only on the Legends estates. These are true VQA wines. The Legends ethic is not to mass manufacture wine, but to craft it using traditional methods, less technology, no forced aging, with lower contact and less manipulation, therefore producing award winning vintages.
