Lately I’ve been watching Anne with an E. It is, I am proud to say, a Canadian show based on the classic book series beginning with Anne of Green Gables. The television series is a partnership between the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Netflix. I’ve binged watched the three seasons, and yearn for more. Apparently the series is not going to be renewed.
As a young person I read most of the books by Lucy Maud Montgomery and fell in love with them. I am now in love with the series. Everything about it, from the acting, music, cinematography and the gorgeous filming locations, including Prince Edward Island. Various scenes showcase the beauty of nature and Anne’s love of the natural world.
The protagonist, Anne Shirley Cuthbert is a vivacious young girl who’s love of life is infectious. I also relate to her extreme love of nature and her sensitivities to all around her, including the animals. The show touches on many sensitive topics and delves deep into the emotions, which naturally resonates with many, making it a fan favourite.
To say tears were shed in the watching of this series would be an understatement. Tears were also shed in the making of this short film I created to celebrate our home planet on Earth Day today, and my love of Anne With an E.
I hope you love this video as much as I enjoyed making it. And let me know if you remember reading the books.
Isn’t the beauty of our Earth just magnificent?

Thanks very much Chaya. It is a lovely show. I too loved it. Everything about it was exquisite. I love how it built on the work of LM Montgomery and tackled some current issues so artfully and sensitively. Thanks for being here.

I also watched the Anne of Green Gables television series years ago and loved it so much. I haven’t seen the new one though.

I think you’d love the new one. It’s the best I’ve ever seen. And Amybeth McNulty is the best Anne I’ve ever seen too. I think the series is so special because there is so much more added by the writer/director Moira Walley Beckett. Great series available on Netflix, but has been cancelled. So sadly no season 4. Let me know if you watch.

I drove by “Grey Gables” yesterday, which made me think of Anne. I definitely enjoyed the books back in the day and am lately revisiting such young adventures, so this might be exactly what I need. I will give it a try if I get a chance. Thanks for sharing.
Nature is beautiful indeed!

No, it was an apartment complex or something named that way. It caught my attention.

I like Anne too, and yes, unbelievably beautiful but too often sad. I may look for the series on Netflix.

The series is a wonderful mix of sadness and joy and many emotions in between. It is so well done with beautiful cinematography. Though it is based on the books, it goes off in its own wonderful direction. You’ll love it. I’m certain. Have a lovely Sunday Jo!

I loved (and still have) the Anne books along with most of L.M. Montgomery’s others. “Blue Castle” is a particular favourite. I’ll have to check out the “Anne with an E” series.
The video is lovely. I watched it with my four-year-old grandson. He loved it too.
